No heat from heater
You need to go back to basics. Have you checked the coolant level for the engine? If too low, the engine will try to source whatever coolant it can and the first thing that goes is the heater.
I suggest you make sure the level is ok, failing that try bleeding the cooling system in case there is an air lock. Failing that try a new thermostat. Good luck. |

Dare I say, it might even be a software issue. My 2012 V40 D3 did that. It was under warranty, so went straight back to the dealer. Apparently they had to update a software module.

Similar Issues
Have recently purchased a 2015/16 V40 AWD T5 - 67,000kms
Very good condition. Good service record, low kms for age I think. Ran into problems early with the 'Low Coolant' messaging and the thermostat was checked and replaced. The replacement failed so was itself replaced. Then a week or two later it deteriorated to a 'stop the car' message. Further review (which had earlier included gasket check that seemed ok), showed error messages in the ECM. Volvo NZ suggested a replacement ($3-4k, paid for by dealer), and this was fine for less than a week and we're back to the major error message. Note also that the heating would not work. Now for further review, but SERIOUSLY don't want it to be the head gasket. Have seen notes around bubbles / air locks after coolant change, and there are a couple of recalls I've spotted on line for 2015/17 V40s for this issue. Any advice out there? |
