  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

I can relate to that; most of the cars I owned in my early driving career were 15 years old on average (Cortinas, Marinas, Hillman Imps etc.) & they seemed ancient to me at the time compared to new stuff in the 80s. I had a '63 Vauxhall Cresta PB in 1988 when I was 20 & that did seem ancient lol, it was 25 years old then. And yet my 10 year old C70 doesn't seem old to me.
Generally, cars were jalopies by 5 to 10 years old 30 to 40 years ago; it wasn't uncommon to need new front wings by 5 years old due to corrosion, these days, due to advances in corrosion protection & general reliability, I'd say a car is now old at 15 to 20 years.
