SRS Impact sensor - in B post or under headlamps
Hi,
Can anyone clarify where the front SRS Impact sensors are. Various posts on here say they are under the headlamps, however Vadis states they are in the B posts(Electrical System - General info - SRS)I'm ordering Vida Dice this week and I want to clean my sensors before I try and reset the codes. Any photos/part nos appreciated. My car is a 2003 Diesel First time the SRS warning came up after I just jacked the car(Didn't disconnect the battery or any connections. ) Second time I jacked the car up and disconnected the battery(Followed Vadis instructions regarding waiting times etc but a member on this forum reckons the 5 minutes waiting period after switching ignition off should really be 30 minutes min.)I then changed the ABS sensor and reconnected battery following Vadis instructions. Common theme here is jacking up the car. But I'm still not convinced that it's that. Edit: I meant to say that I couldn't find the SRS impact sensor positions in Vadis parts section. vadis merely stated in the general section that the sensors where in the B post Thanks Tony Last edited by tonygreen1966; Mar 23rd, 2014 at 08:55. Hi mate under the head lamps they are normally white and held with two ten mil bolts I expect you will find they have corrosion at the terminals I would inspect them with ignition off & battery disconnected as a precaution

on most cars I have broken, they are as said, but also at bottom of B pillar about level with seat base, and in C pillar at side of seat base.
Anywhere there's an air bag to go off, there will be a sensor to trigger it, You wouldn't want side curtain, and side seat airbag going off in a head on crash, as could push you sideways away from the steering wheel airbag, increasing risk or injury, rather than protecting you |
