Default Thule Roof Bars - 4006 Kit

Car is coming this week - off on Holiday on Friday, so assembling roof bars in preparation.

When fitting the "rail adapters" (4006) to the foot pack, it shows tightening the two outer screws to 4nm, then the inner single to 6nm.

However, I can't see where the two outers hit a corresponding thread to tighten against.

Any ideas ?

Thanks Chris - confusingly, depending on which instructions you use, you can either use 2 x bolts, or 1 x bolt - will wait until i get the vehicle i think !

On my 2015MY only the two outer bolts are used with the 4006 foot pack.
They fit the rails very nicely too.

I haven't checked, but certainly only need to under the two outer bolts to remove mine Yes, 8 bolts to remove the stupid bars - backwards step Thule, from the single handle (no extra allen key needed) on previous models!

I suspect the inner bolt only secures the bracket the outer two go through.

Agreed not as slick as the spinning end cap clamp system I used on the previous car plus I had to buy blank end caps for the bars.
Nevertheless they do sit very nicely. Again I do not use the center bolt everything is clamped together on the two outer bolts.

Ah ! So that's what those 4 blank end caps are for in the box !

Wingbars come with them.

So "new" 4006 instructions in the box use the center bolt as the main fastner (6nm), with the 2 outers as "support" (4nm).

The "old" instructions found on t'internet use the 2 outers, with no center bolt.

The "metal long piece" (you can tell i work for an engineering company?) they mate to can either accept the 2 outers, or the single inner. Last night whilst on youtube i clocked another footpack being used where only one bolt was used in the center hole - so must be OK !
