Default Drive/aux belt length TDI

I believe there are two lengths of belt for the D5252T a 1675mm and a 1685mm, how do I know which one my car uses, will vadis tell me ?

Hi

As far as I know the 10mm variation is just the spread in manufacturers spec for the tdi - the tensioner will more than compensate for the 'slack.'

When my aircon died I used a shorter (Gates 6PK1428) belt and took the compressor ' out of the loop.'

Hope this helps

John

Have you already changed the belt?
When I recently did it I found that the volvo belt was 1675mm. I bought a 1685 Gates belt. Easily fitted compared to the OEM belt which was a nightmare even to remove with loosen tensioner. It was a really tight fit.
Now my problem is that the brand new Gates belt has a short squealing noise when the engine starts and when it stops. It's not a continous noise but drives me crazy.

It's usually a weak tensioner that causes the noise on start up and shut off.

Yes, that was my first thought. My tensioner is pretty new, it was changed a year ago.
So yesterday I bought a 1680mm belt and the squealing noise has gone. Based on these I found this length (1680mm) optimal and installation was an easy job as well.

Not yet. Ordered a Gates 1685 (that's whats currently fitted), received a Dayco 1688 (hate EuroCarParts).

Also received a Dayco Injection Pump belt when I ordered a Gates too.

I'll go with them for now, but its not my preference.
