New 2023 XC60 Towing issue

I have just purchased a new XC60 T6 hybrid to replace my 2016 XC60.
I tow a Swift Elegance 565 2019 caravan.
The car was fitted with a retractable tow bar by the dealer.
The car end works, the caravan works but they refuse to talk to each other.
The caravan has a C44+ fuse board and a VLM4. We have tried a VLM 6 but this did not work. The car has been check several time by Volvo and I took it to a caravan dealer and it worked with another swift caravan. So I’m guessing it’s something to do with my caravan and not the car…
The car is superb by the way, it’s just hasn’t fitted in with all the family yet!
Any suggestions?

As. Starting point I would check the wiring on the caravan plug to make sure it is wired correctly. Lots of wiring diagrams on Google.
