Active bending Xeon Headlight Stuck
I have a 2012 Volvo V70 1.6 estate with active bending Xeon headlights. The passenger side headlight has stopped moving and the focus is fixed towards the right. Consequently it has failed the MOT.
The MOT garage has said that if the light can be made static in the correct position towards the kerb it will be acceptable. My question is, can anyone please tell me how I can move it without breaking anything that I should not? I have looked at replacement units but they are expensive and most do not come with all the parts. As I do not know which part is faulty I have a dilemma. So a second question is how can I test the parts that may be involved? Thank you in anticipation. |

Find a local Volvo specialist and have a chat.
This is the sort of issue that they can advise on without taking you to the cleaners. Before that, however, see what other forum members offer. |

Had this problem on mine with an error headlamp failure warning found it was the control unit under the headlamp, NOT the ballast found one on Ebay It's the same as BMW one. £48 currently

Under the headlight assembly there are two control units, the ballast and the active bending light controller.
Inside the headlight assembly you have the side swing motor drive. There could be an electric or mechanical problem with that one. The major problem with investigating that is that the headlight assembly is sealed. You can perhaps open it, if you heat up the glue seal sufficiently, and you can perhaps re-seal it with glue, after the inspection/repair, but it's not that easy. Replacing the control unit under the headlight assembly is easy, though. |
