Question XC90 T6 constant drain on the Battery

My 2003/4 T6 has developed a battery problem where it has a constant drain of 5 Amps on the battery, is this a known T6 or XC90 issue ?? any idea where to start tracking where the problem is ??

I've removed the fuses one by one in the engine compartment fuse/relay box and the problem still remains ??

Chris

Pull fuses on the interior fuse boxes as well, there are two:

End of dash, at driver's side. Pop trim panel off to view.

Under the dashboard, remove kick panel with tory driver to view.

A 5A draw should be easy to find

NOTE CAREFULLY that the car does not turn off immediately you switch off the key.
If closed and locked, it takes around 30 sec for the CAN busses to go to sleep. Only then is the vehicle shut down.

Every time you open a door or press a remote button or turn on interior lights or turn the key, the car will wake up again, and many modules will wake up and consume power.

So this is what you need to do:
1. Open driver's door and open boot
2. Remove fuse box covers
3. Setup your multimeter
4. Take key out, wait for the lamp in the boot to turn off (takes a few minutes)
5. Once boot lamp is off, car is asleep, then you can measure power drain when asleep, and start pulling fuses

Questions:

1) Does your radio operate correctly?
2) Do you have a sunroof and does that operate?
3) If your alarm activates does the siren go off or do you just get hazard warning lights?

If the answer is no question one then your radio needs repair/replacement if its no to one or both of the 2nd two questions then id suggests your alarm siren is causing the drain and it needs replacing.

Nigel.

Thumbs up T6, Problem with constant Power Drain on the Battery

FAO, SwissXC90 & NMB, many thanks for taking the time to guide me with this electrical problem, Following your comment I soon realised that the 5 amp current drain I was measuring was obviously pre the Car's electronics going to sleep (SwissXC90), so going back to basics I rechecked the battery and not happy with it's output or ability to hold charge so replaced it and not had the annoying experience of jump starting the Car as a regular event (much to the obvious disapproval of the Good Lady), thanks again. Regards Chris
