Default OEM fuel filter cheaper than from Dealer

Just bought an OEM fuel filter from a Volvo Dealer.
Looked at the part numbers on it and I can see it was made by Purflux and model number is C516.

If you want to save yourself some money you can buy it from autodoc here:
https://www.autodoc.co.uk/purflux/7851869

Be aware it does about 2 weeks for items to arrive from Autodoc and postage is about £8 so it's worth buying a few things at once.

I, too, recently purchased an OEM fuel filter here and on it was indeed stamped Purflux C516.

I was aware of this prior to purchase of the OEM fuel filter. What I wasn't sure, however, was whether any o-rings/gaskets were supplied with the Purflux filter.

Were there any?

I've only purchased the OEM filter so far, next year I will buy the Purflux branded one.

I'm sure it will come with an o-ring though.

It certainly pays to do a little part number research as you have found rather than reaching for OEM parts as many do. It’s a little win in my book

I usually use https://www.fcpeuro.com/ to find out who makes OEM parts for Volvos, but they don't list D5 engines.

No biggie for me to pay extra this time, I am servicing everything on my friends's XC90 for free ( labour wise ) so he can afford to splash out on some branded parts this time round!

I've been using Purflux fuel filters for a couple of years now on a number of D5s without any issues. The only difference seems to be that the Volvo filters come wrapped in cellophane, whereas the Purflux filters don't. The rubber seals are the same in both boxes.

Indeed. It has been reported previously on this forum.

Good to know people have had a good experience with these filters.
