Default Vct 2000

Ok please forgive the newbie post, I'm trying (you know the rest!)

I have a 2000 volvo V70 (good start eh!)

I have Vadis on my Desktop, and also an icon that states VCT2000 update (vadis 5.0C).

when selected the prompts state VCT 2000 must be connected to the car and a battery charger to the battery.

Is the VCT 2000 that fancy expensive box earlier in the thread or can I connect my PC direct to the car? if so where can I get a lead? (I've an expensive feeling in my bones!)

Again please forgive the newbie type post, this is my first proper foray into fixing cars that dont have triple webers! let alone a diesel!

I'm afraid you will need the vct2000 box to talk to your car with vadis or vida software.

Not been on here for a while so just to let all know (and to stop all the PMs) the VCT 2000 has now been sold.

Default VCT cables

Hi,

Did anyone find a reasonable source for VCT 2000 cables (by reasonable I mean affordable!) Home made or otherwise.

I cant find any, anywhere on the web at the moment!

Mike.

VCT2000 has been replaced by DiCE. Vadis has been replaced by Vida. Vida was still compatible with VCT up to one of the 2010 versions iirc. I'm running Vida 2008c with a VCT2000 and it's fine.

use the search box or Google and read up. DiCE clones are available cheaply enough on fleabay (around £120 these days) and generally come with a (naughty) copy of Vida.

you couldnt make one as there is an interface box half way along the cable from VCT2000 to diagnostic plug ..

That's just what I was beginning to think.....The Mrs is going to go harpic! it was hard enough to persuade her to buy the VCT, trust me to finally get one just before the price of a DICE came tumbling down!

Yes I know RobbieH, I have done tons of reading up, but I have a VCT2000 and it worked fine until just recently, if I could get a lead for less than a DICE then it might make sense.
Plus, to geta DICE means a new laptop too.... I generally run Macs and I had an old PC laptop to run VADIS, and it doesn't meet the RAM specs of VIDA.

AS usual I am being forced to spend more and more and more cash to replace lots of things when only one of them is bust...... I hate the way no-one supports anything for more than a few years these days, especially computer manufacturers.
