8 hours is unacceptable indeed. They are also not amusing to replace, especially on 2005+ It is quite hard not to touch the glass when your hand is bleeding and stuck in there (the low beam bulbs on the 2001-2004 headlights are still fiddly but much easier than on the plastic lens headlights from 2005+)

This is what I got https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PHILIPS-V...bdM:rk:45:pf:0

Hanover area- fill up for 50 euros. Just to get me across border, fuel will be much much cheaper there.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Nearest station is just over a mile from where I am..

So these are average prices off internet as of 19/12/2018.

Exchange rate at around 4.50-4.75 Polish Zloty to a Pound..

Pb98 - 5.19Pln/litre
Pb95 - 4.86pln/L
Diesel - 5.12pln/L
LPG - 2.36

Of courseit wI'll cost more just off any major motorway or close to border.

So, these 20 or 30 miles inward from the border, and a mile off the motorway, I was paying around 5.20 per litre of Pb95. Well above average, but on the services on motorway I'd easily pay 5.80 per litre..

If possible look for GKN thermoplastic boot (OE/OEM).

Today I shed a little tear as I noticed that my V70 D5 tailpipe was hanging a little low. The back box has been so very rotten for so very long that this was inevitable, but it still made me sad; at least 4 years and about 35,000 miles.

Bring on the horror of eBay exhausts as main dealer prices are in excess of £470 and even Kwik Fit, if they can get one, will be looking for upwards of £300 or so. Anyone with any recent hints or advice as to where to get one?

Not a DIY, but I put together a few links with DIY related to the AW55 automatic 5 speed transmission. On some cars, perhaps less knowledgeable mechanics try to refill with fluid through a top bolt which is in fact an anchor for the B4 (3rd gear) band. Consequenlty the car loses completely the 3rd gear. It seems it is possible to fix it (without removing and opening/replacing the transmission) so I did a small video with links to the forum topics that explain the trick the fix this issue. The forum links are in the video description https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFyQptqISsc

Thanks for the info.

What actually happened was:

No shop around was able to get the right part in less than 4 days (new year, party and so on, approaching)

But one shop offered to check the fitment if I bring old, torn, part.

Garage lent me its "service" van, so I went, and after mere 30 minutes of browsing between shelves, we've found replacement. I have no idea what car was it supposed to fit, but was almost exact match to the original.

Yet, my "reflective surface" aka forehead is little bit bigger now..
