Default Volvo 940 1998 clutch assistance

With the slow but painful onset of arthritis in my left leg,I'm considering the possibility of fitting a servo/booster for assistance on the clutch.I really don't want to get rid of the Celebration Estate just yet.
Has anyone done this, and wher do I start to look for parts, etc. Was it successful?

The clutch on an M90 940 is the lightest clutch I've ever felt, I thought it was broken the first time I pushed the pedal on my gearbox donor, if yours is stiff/heavy then there's an issue somewhere.

There is a website for kit car parts but I can't remember the name of it, they would probably sell something.

Maybe consider either converting it to automatic or selling and buying a 940 automatic. If you go the conversion route remember that the M90 set-up is quite sought after by younger enthusiasts so negotiate a keen price/trade-in.

It has been done on other cars.
Long term a auto conversion would most likely be your best bet

As a clutch wears it gets heavier due to the leverage n the spring.. after about 2005 clutches had self adjusting mechanisms in the cover.

You cant really use a brake servo as it would run out of travel before the clutch was fully disengaged. A new clutch is usually lighter on a pre 2005 volvo .

There is a little plastic hat that goes over the ball pin hinge point for the actuator. It was mostly gone when I replaced my clutch, new clutch, lube and a new hat made alot of difference

The cap is still available from Volvo part number 9163851.

I think I only paid about £5 from FRF for one a couple of years ago for the pivot ball cap. The pivot ball on M90 gearboxes seem to hold up a lot better because of these, in the M47/6 they go in to a lock spring in the clutch fork without a cap and wear away so they look like a cone!
