A fascinating build! Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
Best of luck with it, Hugh.

First time I've actualy read this thread well impressed so far.

Cutting up classics is only bad if you dont put them back together again.

I like this project as it is just udating the looks of the P1800, similar to a P1800 project I will be doing eventualy. Not so keen on the engine choice but fully understand why.

I would also have an interest in the flush mount glass kit for the P1800 as it would fit in with what I will be doing to my P1800 when I get to it. Have a felling shipping might kill it though.

Also out of interest will you be doing the same with the amazon? I'm sure a glass kit for the amazon would be popular

I´m always in awe of people who can do these sorts of restaurations. Keep the pictures coming. Although I love Volvos, that TR6 is still the most beautiful cars ever designed.
Have you got a similat thread on the TR´s restore?

Thank... I loved the 1976 TR6 also... It was really just a freshen up, it only had less than 40,000 miles on it and had been sitting for 1981. Here are a couple of pictures. This car was literally a strip down and shoot.. Absolutley no rust, and everything on the car worked. I bought the car for a 1000 dollars from a young guy that couldnt get it running.. It only needed a battery and the point contacts were corroded.. Of course, I replaced all the hoses, seals, fuel pump, gaskets, brakes, ect.. The interior was completely factory and in great shape, so I only replaced the dash pad, and carpet.

Robert.
Thanks for the pics of the TR6. Having owned several Triumphs in the past "everything worked" was an elusive state of affairs.
One the reasons for driving Volvos. Thanks again.

Well I am working on the slanted headlamps, and to have a conventional sized headlamp with a sloped lense, there is alot of added surface area. I have trie to find later model composite headlamps that will work, but they are all mis-shapen to the fenders they are made to fit.

So here is where I am at... I am worried the light is way over-sized for the car right now, but it does appear that way in the rendition.. I am thinking that once I get the metal work completed where the only thing showing is the actual lense, it will dramatically shrink up the oversized appearance. Atleast that is what I am hoping.. ha ha Right now, turning back isnt really an option. It really does give the car that over-sized European Headlamp look from the 60's-70's

The way this headlamp system works, I can actually finish weld the ring to complete the fender, then blend it all in. The ring is the main part of the bucket system, so the mechanics of the light will attach to the back side of the headlamp ring. I believe I will only have to add a couple of support braces to the rear of the bucket for extras support.. Here are some updated pictures.. I will say that the light appears to be much bigger in the pictures for some reason, I guess it is the chrome ring blending into the lense.
