Default Boingggg! Is it the top mounts?

After a loooong time globetrotting I came back and gave the V50 a bit of a run. To Switzerland. Where they had just had their first metre of snow. This produced a number of... small incidents in which the V50 had a bit of an unaccustomed thrashing.

I'm sure I've broken some stuff: In particular, the car now makes a deep metallic TWANNGGG sound as I turn the steering just away from straight-ahead, and a kind of metallic fore-aft clank as I first move off in the morning. I'm pretty sure the fore-aft sound is a mount, but the twannnng is a real puzzle. Top mounts? road spring(s)? Where should I start looking? For those who don't know, this is a V50 T5 auto, on 145,000 miles.

Got a torch in for a poke about today. It's not normal for the smaller rubber parts of the engine mount to crumble under your finger, is it?

Time for a bit of a mail-order sesh. The various bolts look do-able, so that's at least a little bit of good news...!
