Which detachable towbar for V70?
Hi,
Need to tow a caravan but want a towbar as invisible as possible, and avoiding visible bumper cuts. Have been offered a whitter - which leaves the electrical connections visible apparently. Had another suggested - Westfalia - that is apparently even less visible. Any recommendations/suggestions greatly appreciated... Thanks. Paul

V70 Towbar
You haven't said which year/model you have but I'd suggest trying towequipe (google it). They supply a wide range of towbars and will be able to advise on bumper cuts, electrics etc. I've just ordered a witter bar from them for my V50 and they were one of the first to stock a recently released model from witter which does not require a bumper cut.

I am just about to fit a Westfalia to my C70, looks to be a great piece of kit as the detachable tow bar fits verticaly upward, so no sign of the bar. I am not so sure about the electrics though, I am hoping they aren't too hidden as I don't want to get down too low when plugging in.
This is the German website but there is an english button, loads of info. but the site is difficult to find so don't lose the link!! http://www.westfalia-automotive.de/ If you want to buy one then Hedley alarm and Towing was the best price I could find. www.hedley-towbars.co.uk |

Woops - 2003 model - so with the back body trim rather than the newer specs with most of the trim being body colour.
Like the idea of the new whitter with no bumper cuts (if also for V70) and equally the westfalia if it's so invisible. The towequppe is really helpul in providing a list of what's available for specific cars. Will research further. I gather whitter are the market leader in the Uk by a long way. Thanks

I have just noticed your post, I went through the same dilema you are in and after all the research i plumped for the westfailia and it is superb. you can fit the hitch with one hand!!, it is easy to fit and the wiring socket are angled back out of the way. The only down fall is the price, but I have just bought an xc90 and removed the towbar from my v70 prior to trading it in as i remembered how expensive it was. it is sat in my garage waiting to go on to ebay. PM me if interested.
