Default Should I buy this C30?

This C30 has taken my eye on fleabay as a R-design but how do i check it is actually a R-design. looking at the steering wheel I cannot see it embossed on there as I have when looking at others. Should I be weary of this.

Also what else should I be looking out for if i go to see this car,as its local to me,is there anything major that goes wrong with these at this age.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

It doesn't look like a bad example from what I can see, 2.4 D5 with 80k on the clock so plenty of miles left in her yet.

It is indeed and R-Design model and it is an R-Design steering wheel. This is depicted by the aluminium underneath top section (12 o'clock position, ranging from approx. 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock ) there is also the R-Design badge at the middle at the bottom of the wheel too. If you look closely you can see it but it is hard as sun is shining over it in the eBay picture.

If all history is in place and correct it should be a good car.

Thanks for that,I'm just about to go to see it in the next half hour. It's a full volvo service history so I will be checking it thoroughly. Is there anything specific I should be looking out for?

Finally,I will be getting it remapped as soon as I can so will be looking for advice on that front soon.

Thanks again

Had it for £6250,it drives like a dream and the service history is all complete.

Now to research a remap, any good suggestions?

There are a few options available but the place I would recommend is Shark Performance.

Have a chat to Ben or Mikko, you could visit them or they can send you a softloader to read your car and then you email them a file of which is worked on and sent back for you to load back on to the car before sending the softloader back to them.

It would be approx. 200miles one way trip for you to get to Mansfield where Shark reside but they may have an partner/agent a little closer.

Thanks,I know its a bit far to travel from my house,Mansfield was my home town. I will ring to speak to them and try to get the soft loader from them also. Do they do a map based on the software on the car as it is or is it just a generic C30 D5 map, therefore over writing any software updates that Volvo have installed.

Thanks

They don't touch generic maps only do custom ones starting from the exact file that is currently on your car. This is why you get the softloader to take a copy of your current map and then you email it to them to be customised (no generic rubbish).

Thanks for that,I'll speak to them next week to see what we can arrange. I'll speak to Volvo first to see if all the updates/recalls have been done on my car. Hopefully I can then 'Hire' the soft loader and get my car remapped with the most up to date software.

Thanks

Having spoken to Volvo, they have confirmed all recall notices have been carried out. So far I love the car in every way, even if it has less spec than my old S60. I can't fault the car at all so far.

I think I have had a bargain at £6200 for this. Roll on many years of happy motoring in this beaut.

Remap is next on my list then maybe a wheel refurb with a graphite grey,it'll match the white of the car lovely, well that's my opinion anyway,,,,
