The humidity sensor, if fitted, is in the rear view mirror.
But the air quality sensor, as well as intake temperature sensor (after evaporator) are in the main climate control housing, where the fan also resides.

In the end I gave up and got the help and an independent auto electrician. He got it working and said that the motor is probably worn, and it's not a permanent fix, because it may stick again. From what I was told he powered up a black and a black and white wire near to the plug for the resistor pack, and it started to work. He said it probably stopped and the armature on the motor was mid position between the bushes. Charged by £50, so I was pleased with that, but a bit disappointed I couldn't sort it myself. Hope this helps somebody. If I have more issues, I will think about putting in a new motor. My thoughts are its a dashboard out kind of job, so will try and avoid if possible.

Top tip Helmsdale. I was convinced my fan was broke on my 2008 V70 and was getting all set for the mission of removing and replacing.
I saw your post and thought got to be worth a try.
I located the Resistor Unit by the Pollen Filter, unplugged the multi-plug and then connected power to the Black & Black/White cable using a booster pack and a couple of short lengths of cable.
Fan immediately came to life. I've reconnected everything back up and all is working fine. Not sure how long it will last but far easier than getting the fan out.

Hi guys,

I am about to replace the fan motor, but still unsure. My fan only runs slow and only when you turn the dial up full, dispaly showing heater turned up full.

I have tried swapping the resistor but that did not work.

If I take off the plug and put a straight 12v to the motor it should spin right?
Or is it the case that there is a controller inside the blower motor that is connected to the climate control unit, because after conecting 12v to the motor it still ran at the slow speed.

So is there a possibility it be the control unit ? or will it be the fan?

Many thanks.

Hi all, a massive threat resurrection, but it sounds like I am having similar issues with my 2008 heater / blower.

I put the car into a specialist who have scanned it with vida and found no faults. They also changed the power module / resister, but this didnt fix it.

I am being quoted the best part of a days labour to change the fan, so before I resort to this I am keen to try this fix.

Is anyone able to confirm with multi plug to provide power to and whether there is a specific pin that needs the supply?

Dan

Hi Helmsdale, I'm having the exact same problem with my 2009 S80 RHD, Ive changed the Resistor pack, Cabin Heater Sensor and before I try the dash control unit I want to try and get a direct feed to the fan motor. I appreciate this thread is a few years old but did you solve the problem in the end and was it the fan motor?
