Servicing in South London
Hi all,
My recently acquired 2003 V70 is due for a service. This is my first Volvo, so I'm looking for advice on a decent service specialist. My local Volvo main dealers are either Doves of Croydon or Tollbar Twickenham. I've also identified two local independant Volvo specialists - Dean Motorworks (DMW) in Merton and AGH Motors in Wandsworth. I'd be grateful for advice from anyone who has used any of these guys (good or bad). AGH Motors is the independent recommended on http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/garages/garages_town.php but I would prefer a personal recommendation. Thanks, Tim |

If you want to have total confidence in who looks after your Volvo, and your prepared to travel that extra mile, then there is no better than RT Mechanics @ liphook Hampshire. Unlike any other garage, these are the only people that you will find that don't have any negative feed back. I am happy for these guys to have an open cheque to fill in on completion of any work carried out on my car. Need I say more!!!!????
David

Thanks David, but I'd prefer to stay local if I can.
I'm particaulrly interested to hear any views on DMW (www.dmwvolvo.com) because that would be the most convenient for me. Tim |

Hi,
If it is local, Hartfield Motors may be worth a try. Based in Eden Park... Speak to Peter... Des. . .

Tim,
I'm near you and I tried an independent in Kent, that I will never use again. I then tried RT Mechanics in Liphook, Hampshire, last week actually. That is it, my car will no longer go anywhere else. Top guys, know their stuff and trust them totally. OK, they are not local but they are good, very good. |

Thanks Shready,
With the amount of people that use/recommend RT Mechanics on this forum, I'm surprised that these guys can ever fit anybody in! I've just checked their website and they're only open Mon-Fri - I can't really justify a day off work "just" to get a car serviced. Has anybody got any expereince of the garages mentioned in South London? Tim |

*Shameless bump alert*
Surely someone has some first hand experience of one of the four garages mentioned? |

Hi,
No experience of RT but they are great by all accounts.. Never used DMW so I can't give any comment. Have used Hartfield several times and service was generally quite good, but he is a small operator. Des. . .

GB Autos
Hi There,
I can recommend GB Autos. Glenn (Brown) is a 'Volvo Specialist', not sure if an ex employee (although I believe thay often are when they specilise)? I have had 2 850's Glenn has looked after - although admittedley one was to read the last rights to after I got stung on a certain auction site (my fault!). On my current car he has been 100% upfront with what needs doing, and what he recommends needs doing, without pressurising that it has to be done - if you get my drift! He was surprised I found him (from the VOC) as he says he doesn't advertise at all - he works purely on word of mouth and positive reputation. Because of this I tend to book as early as poss - he will have a look at a car for you briefly to try to give an initial diagnosis, but they work on 2-3 weeks minimum booking for any work as they (only 2 of them I believe) are so busy. He also prices very reasonably. His details are: G B Autos (G Brown Volvo Master Tech) 16a Cheam Common Worcester Park Surrey KT4 8RW 020 8330 6090. It is actually North Cheam, between Sutton and Kingston. If you want any more on this garage give me a shout (or him?). Cheers, John
