If it had been diesel, a common culprit is the EGR valve which gets fouled up and doesn't respond to the ECU is quickly as it should. The result being that too much exhaust gas gets recirculated into the intake. Many modern petrol engines also have an EGR valve but I've not heard of as many cases of them fouling on petrols.

Lol happens all too often m8, my engine service required warning message has been on for a year now, they told me "it may require an O2 sensor, we don't know if it's the front one or the rear one, but we can't guarantee that even if we fit one it's going to cure the problem, so just ignore it, they don't do anything anyway"....
Thank you, my local Volvo Service Department.

Throttle body electrical connector , is there any relative movment when you wiggle it? Renewing the terminals in the connector housing on the car loom has been known to help greatly ..

Hi I have C30 2007 petrol and it only had a service & MOT (so repairs done) yesterday in Liverpool but this morning whilst driving around Manchester experienced REDUCED ENGINE PERFORMANCE...

THESE cars don't like weaknesses, let's face it, it screams at you if you don't get your seatbelt on by 2nd gear!!
