I bought this one when my own unit got dead pixels so I swapped the LCDs over from this unit I bought to my own one. Swapping the LCD is pretty easy, you just disconnect and reconnect a ribbon cable one the unit is open.

I'm happy to post it to you if you want to try the swap yourself? I don't know if the ICM is coded to the car but have read of some people having success swapping ICMs without requiring any coding.

Pics (very bad blurred ones) here and here.

I was about to take it to the tip today when I remembered your post.
That would be great, thank you.

This will keep me busy for a bit

Does anyone know if there is a guide for changing the timing belt?

I also read that its a good idea to change the Aux belt and tensioner whilst at it. Is this right?
On the T5 at least and possibly other 5 cyl engines, a failed serpentine belt can take out the cambelt due to its proximity. Just done mine (2 aux belts).

Hi Iain,

Thank you again for the ICM.

I managed to get a chance to swap it over yesterday.

I plugged your unit in and the stereo started working properly, but the ICM does not show the clock.

I went about trying to swap the screens over as you mentioned, but my old screen only has a single ribbon to the PCB where the one you sent me has 2 ribbons to the PCB.

So I put it all back together and it seems to all work ok, but for now I don't have a clock in the car.

What would be the difference between the 2 ICM's, and what are the different types of stereo systems in the V50's?

Does my car have an in dash 6 disc changer?

I suspect the difference is that the ICM I sent was from a pre-2007 car. Before 2007 the clock was displayed on the instrument cluster only. After 2007 it was displayed on the ICM.

Sadly I suspect you'd need a newer ICM from a 2007 onwards car to get the clock back. At least you now know that you can use any ICM second hand. Try looking on eBay and try to match the part number with the one from the top of your old unit.

Perfect, that makes a lot of sence.

Thank you again for your help, I can do without a clock for now
