Aerial
Hi everyone..
I put an add in the "wanted" section but without any luck - so plan "B" as anyone fitted a 3rd party Aerial to an 2004 S40 - been talking to a lad called Jamie at PFS (and a good lad he is too) Anyway it's looking like I need to get a new unit but after spending days looking for one I have come up with sweet FA so has anyone get any advice? Jamie has told me that my current aerial is only fitted to 2004 models which Volvo changed just before the end of production. which means I cant go back to a 2003 model. And the other problem I have been told about is that Volvo has used an unusual (non universal type) plug on the unit.. Can anyone help me find a solution to this one please? thanks Martin.. |

I cannot help with the aerial issue but can vouch for Jamie being a top lad.
He worked for the local Volvo dealers for many years and knows his Volvo's. Good luck.

I bought a new Volvo antenna online for our '03 S40 ('04 model), PN 30816173, but when it came to fitting I was presented with the same problem with the coaxial connectors. The antenna on the car was still working so I left it in place. I believe I should have bought PN 30638743.
I suppose you could remove the original male/female connectors and attach some generic coaxial connectors. Do you know anyone in the TV or satellite installation business? They would have the crimping tool too.

Invesitgate type 'F' plugs.
Crimp 'F's are available, but obviously need a crimping tool. But screw versions of the same also exist, and they're brilliant! They screw onto the insulation, the exposed braid is cut to the same length as the plug, the core pokes inside the female 'F', which also screw on. They're really really good. So simple. |

The one above (30816173) is available if you're willing to make the necessary adjustments. PM me if interested.
