Default back door lock failure

hi all,

the right back door does not work anymore.
had the issue of the lights not blinking when locking and narrowed down to this lock not locking.

I can manually lock/unlock it of course from the inside... but before taking it to have it fixed, is this an easy fix I can do myself?

any experience?

thanks!!

Hi,

Not necessarily. Depends on the year/model of your car.

It may be the motor or a component in the door lock unit.
Replacing the unit is not cheap and not so easy either. Fixing the motor is possible as it has been detailed in this forum.

Hi,
Changed the motor in drivers door lock a while back on 2011P3, it was sticking sometimes and stopping alarm setting, bit of a pain as gotta take out glass and door handle then the whole panel comes off then its easy to get at(easier the second time). Used a FC280SC-20150 motor, cheap 5E did the job, lock seems to be faster now on that door. The only thing is disconnecting door module looses the up position settings on the window so the auto up doesn't work and need Vida to set this but doesn't show any errors.
There wasn't any grease/dirt in the motor but the brushes were worn out
