Finally got around to bleeding the brakes, with a little help from my wife, in the snow. For some reason I can't get these pesky handbrake springs to stay on. They ping off every time my back is turned, so they're bound to ping off when driving, and then I won't have them. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong with them.

Found out that when the temp on the dash says -x (x being a number of course), my wonderful V40 turns on the heated seats for me. Without me having to.

Im working in palma de mallorca at the moment, been here for 11 days so far and should be home soon after the weekend, so by the time i get back it would have been sat there for over 2 weeks in sub zero conditions, i wonder if she'll start?

Today I had a moment when the car wouldn't start. Dash lights came on, no clicking dead......Turns out I had to move the auto box from Park to Drive then back to Park and it started up. Think this cold weather is playing havoc

Sold it 😥

Luckily I have a replacement, but my English, Swedish registered, right hand drive 2004 v40 1.9d is now in the possession of someone else. Really sad day. I originally bought her, or saved you could say. From a Frenchman in London. Drove around the M25 a few times for help from Gates. Learnt how to change oil, filters brakes, suspension, mounts,brakes... You name it, on this one. Never left me down, took me to Sweden from England on one tank and a trailer. Took us to the hospital for the birth of both our sons, 2 years apart.

Sadly, there's no market for right hand drive cars here in Sweden so I had to sell her for a little over scrap value.

It truly is sad... I spent so much time, hard work and money on her. Always original Volvo parts and so much love. Then I sell it for a ton less than its worth, yet have to consider myself lucky I sold it at all. She was costing almost £600 a year to tax, they don't like non-dpf diesels here in Sweden!

What makes it worse, the day after, I THINK I see some mayo on the oil cap of my other, new, older v40. Very very difficult to tell but it puts doubt and worry in my head. I've got a test kit on its way so I'll see what happens when that arrives.

Almost making it even worse, the buyer was an asylum seekers who had a temporary id number. It might not go through as an owner change which means I'll be responsible for the car, tax and insurance whilst some other guys out there driving it around in the center of snowy, icey Stockholm. Hmm

Never nice to sell cars huh
