I recommend that the mods tidy this up... Bypassing alarms and immobilisers isn't really the sort of things to make public...

Steve, can these systems be retrofitted?

Not sure how easy it would be to fit one to be honest. If they were fitted at dealers I would guess everything is there ready to plug it in.
Despite fitting new remote batteries, checking everything and resetting it mine still didn't work properly. When I bought it the siren had been disconnected already. I pulled it out before it left me stranded anywhere. I would quite like the remote locking back but I haven't investigated what is available.

I found the 210 211 relay,it was hidden above my right leg behing the fusebox sneakily wrapped in gray stickyback foam and positioned sideways so you couldnt tell there was a relay there.jumped the 50e and 50f and all is great again.
I would like to thank this forum,as all the knowledge gleaned here is fabulous.

Cheers

Hi, my 1993 Volvo came without a keyfob so I have been happily running it for 6 year without needing to use the alarm.
I have changed the battery and the Status diodes flash on for 3 secs. + the door open sensor diode. And yes, this does drain the battery.
Apart from keeping the old girl on a trickle charger, I'm stumped. All the posts seem to be aimed at those who have a fob and can id their Guard system.
I should like to disconnect the whole alarm, I should grateful for advice. Chris@oldlinksgolf.com

I have volvo guard 1 on my '93 940, it has worked well since my dad first bought the car in about '96. The only issue is that it would go off randomly and after many trips back to the dealer when he bought the car the best they could come up with was to press the button on the LED unit on the A pillar once before locking.
I didnt know it was an immobiliser too.

I dont want to disable the system, however is there a good source for replacement fobs? I can never find any on ebay etc.

They do come up on eBay occasionally. In fact there appears to be one there now.

There are a couple of service manuals to be found (for free) on-line which describe how to programme the fob and other features that can be set in programming mode.

From memory, pressing the button on the A pillar bypasses some or all of the sensors so is just a workaround if you have a faulty sensor.
