I suspect their “low power” threshold is calibrated too high and doesn’t allow enough for deterioration in battery capacity with temperature. Mine started this evening in +4 but cut out after 10min to protect against low charge.
I have not had this problem for the first two cold seasons I owned the car. I am blaming it on one of the recent software updates. Are you on the latest one Lexman (the one with system status at startup)? It would be good to hear from people for whom pre-con works.

No, I'm on one before that. The car was updated middle of Oct so I missed the latest update with the status display.

I'm on the latest update (checklist display) and since the update pre-heating via VOC doesn't work properly (low battery warning)

Mine has stopped working after the latest update which was done to help with stop start. Now I have neither.

Pretty useless then if it will not work when the battery is cold. I am just thinking, when do I most need the auxiliary heater - when it is cold!!
I let it go last year as the winter was over before there was any resolution and it was mild.

It’s still nice to have hot air out of vents in just a few minutes from the booster function. I really don’t know how people with no aux cope. Not being able to solve it in a season is very poor. Granted last year winter was very mild. So they may not have had enough time.
So neon is one vote for problems even not related to last software update. To be honest my software was updated just as the weather was turning really cold so it could be just cold weather and not related to the last update.

I wonder if we should enlarge sample size by asking my non-aux people to pass info on when they struggle with remote engine start as that also fails when battery is deemed low. Does anyone have it working reliably in the zub zero cold?

Not sub-zero, but it was only 1C and starting to snow when I left the pub last night and precon worked fine for 15 mins before I got to the car. In fact, the car was so toasty you could see water vapour rising above the sunroof and windscreen as it evaporated. So for the first time I got to drive the car in snow covered roads. There was only a couple of cms but I did smile (smirk?) when a Merc in front of me slithered as it set off at a roundabout.

On the other hand, the Ready light for start/stop (which normally works consistently well) didn't come on once in the 20 mile drive home. Not sure if it was the cold or the electrical load that prevented it working.

Yours is clearly working so it works in all conditions. We want to see more people for whom aux pre con or RES is not working to get Volvo to do something about ot

Mine worked with no problems last two days -1-0C temperatures. Seems like -2 and lower is when it struggles. Also could be that because it gets warm during the day the battery temperature and perceived capacity is not as low as when it doesn’t get into positive all day.
