Default Aerial (again)

There's been a lot of talk about aerials lately, and it's got me thinking.

I've always wanted one of those that goes up and down remotely. I did have one once, I fitted it in my SRi Cavi, but ... things went a bit wrong. Silly me hadn't fused it, I vividly remember yanking wires out of the dashboard in traffic trying to prevent the meltdown which had ensued suddenly. I lost the car due to a nervous breakdown and an inability to handle my affairs. But that's another story.

Anyway, I've been reading the threads with interest about the S40 aerial, and it sounds like it's one of the remote up'n'down ones like I described above. Can someone confirm this, because I'd like to install one in the V40 if I can, as the current aerial is falling apart and not very good anyway. Instead, I plan to use the roof aperture for a CB antenna, which is also another story.

So I'd very much appreciate any information anyone can give me. Verbal descriptions, pictures, diagrams, etc. Someone mentioned the mast and the servo are serperate items, is this true? Anything right now would be helpful before I begin ordering parts. Also, part numbers would be wonderful.

Any advice? Thanks in advance.

The problem with trying to fit a S40 aerial to a V40 is the lack of flat panels to attach it to. That is the reason the V40 has a roof aerial as there is no where logically to put the S40 type.

Hmm. Hmmmmmm. I take it the mount has a flat base, then?

I know some estates have had them in the past, poking out through a slopey bit of rear quarter. I was hoping I could achieve something like that. Or maybe in the 'D' pillar, perhaps.
