Dashcam hardwiring
Hi
I have a mini dash cam with the usual long power cable that plugs into the 12v dc lighter socket. However, I would rather not have to route the cable all around the windscreen & utilise the power socket. Therefore I'd like to hardwire the cam via an inexpensive kit off ebay preferably near the top of my screen & obviously it needs to be powered via an "always on" circuit. How difficult/feasible would it to power it from the light or seat belt indicator in the head lining. Any advice would be much appreciated. Kind regards Jim |

The central electrical module in under the glovebox, I ran the wiring down the a pillar trim, behind the airbag of switch trim, used the bolt for the metal glovebox support frame as earth and used one of the 10A fuses from ignition live.
Worked perfectly

Same as above ran wire down the a pillar and fed it to go down the side of the panel which pulls off the side of the dash, threaded under the glovebox and then wired it into the same fuse the rear wiper is powered from.
Works perfectly powers up when engine is on powers down when engine is off. 10minute job, hardest part is releasing the a pillar from It's securing tab. |
