OK Alex, but my appointment is at 11.30am and no promises they will let me drive again yet, as I had a painful night.
Will get back to you during the afternoon after I get back here: if you find a better source please go ahead, I won't be offended. Paul |

Paul, I'll keep looking but right now you're 100% our best chance. Good luck with eye!
I'm definitely still looking though so if anyone else has the glass please let me know. Thanks Alex

Easiest way is to cut it out with a stanley knife for ease or you need to lift the rubber seal from the inside and get it over the window lip (many screwdrivers or trim tools) and youll need someone on the outside to catch the window.

Alex: just back from hospital, but a bit of a problem. Apparently as they operated on a detached retina my eye socket was filled with a mix which included Nitrous Oxide gas and jelly, so my alert card says!
Anyway, the specialist says that will stop me seeing out of it for up to 3 months (!) meaning no driving. Last night my son offered to collect me and let me stay with him as its only a few miles from where my 240s are stored, but that won't be until this weekend at the earliest as he works long hours. I can't ring him yet but hope he will be allowed to take me there in his works van over the weekend if necessary, but knowing where you live that won't necessarily be the most convenient for you. Meanwhile I have to stay here until the weekend whilst they work out my appointment around their Christmas arrangements (also cos there is no computer at my sons!) so sadly things can't be as quick as would be liked. As a slight aside, my car is a D-reg: I know tailgate design changed in the last year or so of production - might the side windows have changed dimensionally too? Do you know Antz? If you PM best number to speak on in case I'm at sons place, we can perhaps continue nearer the event assuming nobody else can help you out. Sorry about this problem - even I was unaware until last Friday! Paul |

Paul,
Absolutely not a problem, I'm sorry to hear you're not well. I'll keep on looking for a donor car so if anyone's got a car or the window available I'll literally bend over backwards to try and get it. Thanks Alex

I can't see that Wyboston (on the A1) could be included in a drive from Dover - Lymington but maybe give Lakes a call? I went past there last week and I'm sure I spotted a couple of 240 estates on the forecourt.
http://www.lakes4volvo.co.uk/ I hope you get it sorted. Last edited by Reg E; Dec 12th, 2017 at 23:26. |

Good call Reg E, I'm hopefully picking up the new window on the way home!

Just a guess based on Ant's advice. The window might be already removed from the donor car. If not. Is it worth trying to prise the window out instead of cutting the seal to get it out. Good practice for fitting to the recipient car?
Sorry you have the damage. Good luck doing the work. Maybe beg borrow or steal a warm workshop.... Stephen |

Chaps,
I managed to pick up a window from a scrappy in Staines called Wraysbury Auto parts. Really nice guys and their service was great so I'll definitely be going back. They had to cut the seal to get the window out but luckily the old one looks in good condition so hopefully I can use it again. Luckily I've got the use of a very large shed at the moment so I'll try and get this in this evening if I can find a willing pair of hands. Updates to come but in the mean time thanks so much for everyone's help, I really appreciate it. Cheers Alex
