Siren is in the nearside plenum chamber under the dash. Wiper arms and scuttle panel need to be removed to access. It's a sealed unit but not coded to the car.

You can either replace with new or cut the unit open and attempt to replace the battery yourself.

Default Volvo C70 alarm siren

Hi, thanks for the reply on my 2006 Volvo D5 C70 alarm I'm on about the alarm with the battery backup pack inside are you, because some main dealers & Volvo specialist say yes some say no to being coded to the car how positive are you because I don't want to buy a new siren & then find it has to be programmed and have trouble getting it coded because they didn't fit it, sorry to be a pain, again thanks for any help you can give.

For a used unit... positive enough having replaced two siren units in my 2004 S40 and 2009 V50 with newer used units with the same part number and it worked fine. Just don't get one with a different part number to your own and make sure it's from a UK car.

I've never replaced one with a new one from a dealer and it's possible that a brand new part may need a software download. I can't say that for absolute certain.

Default C70 D5 backup alarm 2006-2013

Hi, thanks very much for your help but I have now found out 100% I have to have my new backup alarm coded to the car so for everyone's future reference if you've got a C70 that is a 2006 to 2013 model then they will have to be coded to the car by a main dealer once again thanks for your help in this matter.
