Default Broken Headlight Lens, £1k to buy new headlight

Hi,

After a young kid crashed his bicycle at my stationary car I really didn't think that much of it but I'm having a lot of trouble finding a reasonable replacement.
See photos for the damage.

I thought you could just replace the plastic/glass lens but how wrong I was. I thought maybe I'll just leave it but apparently it can steam up and cause more problems down the line. Also I'm not sure but possibly could be a MOT failure.

A whole new headlight unit is required. Price from volvo is 800 plust VAT. It's a Xenon type with Active Bending Lights. At Eurocarparts only the standard halogen VALEO branded headlights are in stock. The others are 1K (still Valeo) and out of stock. No luck with any breakers that I've tried.

Any Ideas?

P.S. Also not even sure what that square bit under the headlights is for (headlight washer?) It's also damaged but got the bits in the glove compartment.

You could try eBay as there are a few for sale at a reasonable price if you can find the correct specification

Hi Fisnik
Volvo/Saab breakers in Nottingham have helped me a couple of times, check Google, alternatively breakersyard.com giving as much info as possible so they'll be quoting for the right headlight.
Best of luck
Fred

Have you tried FRF and other dealers who offer discounts on VOC?

Do you know the kid's parents? Might be worth speaking to them to see if you can claim from their household insurance. It might include public liability. Accidents do happen but you don't want to be hundreds of £ out of pocket because their kid was careless

If that's not an option, your possibly easier continuing down the breaker route or going through your own insurance

Don't know his parents. Haven't seen him before or since.

Tried Ebay and there's some that look very similar but it's not the exact part number. Does it have to match the part number exactly or are other ones likely to work too?

Have e-mailed the Volvo/Saab breakers although their website was awfully slow and didn't appear to have it. Will give them a call tomorrow.

Have looked up FRF and they appear to be in wales. Didn't know that dealers offer discounts on volvo parts. Will give them a call.

Had tried Breakerlink prior to posting. No quotes

I thought about the insurance but at around 600 a year that I pay already not sure whether I'd increase the premiums too much... Also would I loose the no claims bonus? Got 9 years.
