Not me Jen, I was busy judging and generally shooting the breeze with various old and new friends.
It was breezy, thankfully the rain held off and the when the sun came out it warmed considerably towards the end of the afternoon. Only two 740 saloons (mine included), not a bad turnout of 700s/900s, later cars outnumbered early ones - some nice cars in long term ownership too. The 200s far outnumbered all others as far as I could tell, some nice 100s, and Amazons too. Jon 700/900 Register Keeper VOC. Last edited by Prufrock; Jun 29th, 2015 at 08:51. Reason: typo |

All in all I would say a good turn out but I think a lot of the older models were put off by the weather. I think the biggest turn out of 200 series cars ever.
I will always attend the national where ever it is in the UK and am not one to complain about where it is but Rutland is a cross country drive and over 9 hours of driving does add a lot to your day. I would not mind a venue futher away, Bedford is futher butfaster to get to, even Glasgow would not be so bad. The great thing about moving the venue around each year is the hardcore will always attend but you get new faces each time some of whom only attend because it is close by. Moving location helps keep the event Fresh each year but it would be great to see the National BPV grow into the bg kind of events seen in Europe. |

Really gutted I missed this, but having a newborn at home plus my 240 turbo build isn't quite finished yet, maybe next time!

Me too Jon - when one is allocated "some Volvo 240s" to judge then see 19, the middle of the day is entirely committed. Then two recruits to the VOC now needing judging and Chris and myself were a bit stretched.
Fantastic line-ups though - pity I never got to take many pics or put some 140/164 'jumble out though.... Classicswede has a point though - moving the venue each year does get the "local use only" Volvo out onto the roads. Perhaps something to consider when planning the future. P |

Judging the 200's was some of the most enjoyable judging I've done though. As well as the "show cars" the amount of really well looked after daily's was stunning!
Gillberry, sorry we didn't take up the offer of a mug of tea, everything got a bit hectic and completely forgot! Next time?

I managed to make it after all and thought it was a very good turn out.
The 240 certainly had a big impact in numbers and quality. The sun was out when i got there and i met many old friends.I was going to say which was my favourite car but there were quite a few and for variouse reasons not just ultra polished. I really liked the white 340 which was driven by a young man who i think won first prize? Nice to see such an original unmessed up car with no rust but a genuine look and feel of originality. Also good to see some younger owners turning up. We very nearly outgrew the field by shear numbers lol! I drove all the way round as directed to park my v70 in the correct line and it was full up. Just hope i didn't upset any s80 owners as i ended up with them.this is by no means a moan as i would like to think every year the field would be full. Brian.
