Default a faint tremor!

Have had an 05 V70 auto, 70000 miles, for last 3 months.
It has the slightest tremor-- not wobble-- in the steering (the recently checked tracking is spot on)-- almost like a" bit of Parkinsons"--and can be felt in the passenger seats. My local garage I bought it from- they are restorers as well of classic cars- say it is a Volvo "feature", and they handle lot of Volvos esp estates.

Any comments?

You didn't mention if you're certain the tyres are balanced. Always a good place to start.

Another good place to start is to swap the wheels front to rear without switching sides.

When you get the tremor see if turning the steering wheel slightly to see if "strain" (or steering input) abates it.

After that remove the front wheels and "grab and shake" everything you can.
Inspect for looseness in bushings. It could be as simple as worn control arm bushings. Your car IS 12 MY old after all.

Is this shake at idle? The Volvo inline 5-cyl shakes a bit at idle because it does not have 'balance shafts'. This is an unavoidable property of the design decisions taken by Volvo.

Have you recently changed the upper or lower 'torque control' mounts? Putting a poly one in the upper mount can definitely cause vibration to be transmitted to the passenger compartment and to the steering wheel.

If you can feel it through the seats I would think its worth checking bushes

Thank you all for feedback. The garage checked all I listed from your replies (well they said they did, but then......) so I will go to another garage for an observation.

I had what felt like an unbalanced wheel at about 70mph, but it turned out to be the inner cv joint on the os drive shaft. Might be worth checking? It was worse when heavily loaded with passengers and luggage
