Yeah no power to them, 0V. Rang the garages mention above and they’re certain it is the CEM.

Actually, with the ignition on, (key in position 2), and the headlight switch on the on position, you should normally (but not always) get 12V on the connector.

Did both headlights fail at the same time, or one at a time? If both failed at the same time, did you by any chance in the past run a live wire from one headlight to the other, because one of the headlights failed?

Both failed at the same time, yeah. I’ve only recently bought the car so I’m unsure about a live between them. When I checked the car over before buying headlights were fine. The battery was taken off to charge though because the one it had was dead (unsure if this is relevant) at some point after that they failed. I initially thought a damaged wire because of 0V to both connectors but both garages said the same thing.

I am not doubting that it is the CEM. I am just trying to make 100% sure that the diagnosis is correct. The fact that both headlights failed at the same time, either points to a faulty headlight switch (quite rare for the to fail on the 2000-2094 models) or CEM. If you get a chance, check if there is a wire running from one headlight to the other. It will be quite obvious to see if there is one, as it will stick out.

You can buy another used CEM, or you can refurbish it. I have actually been repairing them myself over the last 8 years, so if you decide to go down the route of getting yours refurbished, just let me know. I can also test your CEM on my car and check if it is faulty or not, before I repair it

Thanks a lot for your help I really appreciate it. I found a CEM on eBay for 25 quid thought it was worth a try. Swapped them and all working.

Thanks again.

Hi. I had the same on mine and found the relays online for about £1.50 each. Took half an hour with a soldering iron to replace and work fine. Seems a common fault so may be worth checking on that for the future just in case.
