Hi Brendan, Would you mind booking me and a friend in as well for lunch. I am not sure if I was included in the figure of 8 or not. Apologies if I was.
I have just left the car to the mechanic for a remap and flushing the brake and coolant fluids. Unfortunately my DP has been lost somewhere between USA and here so my intention to have it fitted before the meet is not going to happen Regards Paul

Hi Guys and Gals,
Sharon and I are here in Mullingar and booked into the Bloomfield. (Pity we didn't know about the deal with Oliver) anyway the reason for this post is to post a warning. Anyone useing the N51 or N52 take special care. The roads are very small and tight with a lot of no overtaking areas. I had never been here before and comming down in the dark with ice and frost on the ground (temp 0c) it got very slippery. I got pi**ed off with a cpl cars doing 20mph and passed only to find an unmarked T junction suddenly in front of me. THANK GOD FOR ABS. (good job done by ECU-TESTING, thanks guys..lol) Anyway see you all soon. P.S The Bloomfield Hotel is on the TULLAMORE road from MULLINGAR N52 |

Hi Joe and Sharon, Glad to hear you arrived safely. The other route would have been Belfast-Newry-Dublin-Mullingar. This route involves mostly motorways but has 3 toll roads, but you can avoid the M4 one (EUR 2.60) by taking the "Clane/Kilcock " exit and going to Mullingar via Enfield & Kinnegad . The M1 toll (Eur 1.70) is worth it as you avoid Droheda / Julianstown. The M50 toll (Eur 1.90) can be busy at peak times so you can lose up to 1 hour there. It is also known as "The Pay to Que".
PS ask the hotel to give you the special rate even if you booked the room at the higher rate ivor940

I'll be there after all!
Hi Brendan,
I'll be there after all, in the Skoda. We'll make it a family outing, so if it's not too late can you book 3 more for lunch please. Are we still aiming to meet at 12.00, I note the time of 13.30 for lunch? Looking forward to it,

Hi, Just wondering if there are any speed cameras between the border and Dublin that I should watch out for.
Not that I would be speeding of course! Paul

great to hear
Hi john,
great to hear you can make it after all .I'll book the lunch as asked. yes i moved the lunch out a bit to allow for possible traffic delays and we might have an olde chat as well. Paul there are fixed speedcamera's on the motorway but for the life of me I cant just remember where they are. Watch the "average speed " system coming into Newry, can't miss it as there are 2 huge Yellow poles either side of the road and then at intervals until your nearly out of Newry. look forward to seeing you all. regards brendan

Hi Paul, Once you are on the M1 south of Newry, 120khp is 75 MPH. The static cameras are in grey boxes at the side of the road. There are only 3 working cameras in the South and they are moved between the 20 or so boxes. There can be patrol cars on slip roads or overhead bridges and some gatso vans at the road side. If the road is wide and 60 kph ( 37 Mph ) keep to the speed limit. I will be in the Ulster Bank carpark from 1030 on Sunday.
Ivor
