I converted my car 2011 to EBC Turbo Groove discs and Greenstuff all round... After 1 year I threw the rear Greenstuff out and fitted standard ATE pads.

I don't notice a difference under hard braking. Under light braking you do, as the ATE pads don't need to warm up.

The fronts being Greenstuff is more than enough. I get better braking (better than standard) in the sense that I get less fading under multiple hard brakings (on German Autobahns you need to be able to stop well or at least slam the brakes on hard and decelerate well!). You notice the difference at front, but at rear you don't at all...

In the grand scale of it though green stuff are as close to standard as you can get IMO I would most definitely not consider them an upgraded pad

Reading through the forum it appears that only 15 or so % is applied to rear
So very little in overall effect on breaking

Is it best to pay £40 odd for volvo pads, or are the pagid's or bosch ones at half the price on euro car parts fine?

As has been said earlier in the thread and elsewhere on this forum. If you want to be sure of good performance, no rattles in the calipers, no squeal from the pads etc. Volvo OEM is the way to go.

You get what you pay for.

Most of your braking force is done by the front brakes. Keep with OEM in the rear, the extra money spent in 'uprated' rear pads, you may as well do something good with it and give it to the local homeless bum and let them buy some drugs with it....

I fitted Brembo pads to the rear for £25ish and they don't squeal, squeek or rattle and the performance has been no different from the Volvo pads that were on before them.

I believe Pagid are OEM to Audi so it's not like they're some no-name brand, I'd have no problems using them but thats just me.

volvo dont use re branded parts , the brand they use is marked on the pad ... there are quite a few different ones with mix numbers chosen by volvo .. why would one assume they are the same as FORD ?
