does this have a DPF
Can anyone tell me if this model would have the dreaded DPF please?
2008 58 Volvo V50 2.0D 2009MY R-Design Sport - or do I need to ask the seller for the 8th vin no. digit? I have a 55 plate V50 with a failing DPF & don't want to make the same mistake again |

PM Clan, he might be able to help. I have a 2008 reg (2009 facelift model) 2.0D S40 and it doesn't have a DPF.

confused
Later edit: I've been told by a volvo dealership that my car doesn't have DPF. I hope they're right. I'll double check at the next service.
yey! I've been reading a lot on this DPF after I found it existed (d'oh). Ok then... so I have a 2005 Volvo s40 1.6D and I saw in this topic somebody with a similar car without DPF. Now... people say 8th character and some other people say 8th digit... I have no idea what to be looking at... My vin is yv1ms76326215**** So 8th character is 3 but 8th digit starting at 7 is 5 Can somebody please shed a light on this? I need have it serviced now at 87k miles and just curious if I'm breaking the bank or just a regular service. Last edited by kilroy05; Aug 22nd, 2014 at 10:25. |

'08 V50 with 5th character "5"
Hi folks, and thank heavens for this thread.
I've been looking at an '08 V50 2.0D SE Powershift, which has done close to 80,000, has "5" at Ch8 in the VIN and appears not to have had a DPF change in the service history. Does this mean it a: has the older type DPF and fluid reservoir and b: that it's likely to need an expensive £1200ish service in the near future? Thanks |

I'm pretty sure the 2.0D with Powershift has a dry system dpf like the D5 so does not need a dpf replacement or eolys fluid.

Thanks, would that be confirmed by an absence of the bottle on the rear axle beams?
Yes it would. |

Curioser & curioser
The car would have been a no no for me with close to 80K and no DPF change history, so I:
a: Asked the dealer to dig out and check the history b: Rang a Volvo main dealer to ask them the question too. The dealer has found an invoice for DPF replacement earlier this year at mid 75K ish - £900 The Volvo main dealer has checked via the registration number and said that it has a dry DPF which doesn't require replacement at 75K. Can anyone shed any light on this? |
