NSR doesn't always unlock fully on the central locking and needs the inner latch pulled to open it

OSR doesn't always lock fully on the central locking and needs to be locked separately (open door, depress button) before locking rest of car

Both are a bit tedious but less tedious than stripping it all out to fix probably!

To reduce motor wear and tear on the passenger doors I have programmed the car to only unlock the drivers door(on first remote push). It is only the driver's door which has the sticking handle issue.

Angry V70 boot rear door

Its been common faults with Volvo V70 Estate rear doors for years, the handles on the manual opening doors stick down due to corrosion, or they wont open manually due to the cable coming loose from its anchor point in the door on the mk3 etc, etc. I have the non manual opening trouble at present on my 2008 V70 se Lux, and have to use the button on the dash or the remote to open the rear cargo area door. I will get round to sorting it when the weather warms up, its icey in my garage at present..

2008 V70 2.4d se lux Geartronic.

Just by way of conclusion. amazingly the door played up when I took it to the dealer and wouldn't open for them so they have replaced the door lock mechanism under warranty with no issues.

Thanks all!

To remove the handle you have to tap it in the opposite direction of the arrow to get it out according to the manual and this got me thinking. What if I tap it back in to position if it has worked loose? Only one of the door handles is sticking and it must be down to wear at the hinge point or retainer of the handle. If you look at the photo and tap the handle in the direction of the arrow, the handle becomes unstuck...albeit for a little while until it works its way back out and to the left thus jamming it again. May be building up the hinge point with something could rectify this cheaply?

Just to check the above link to the motor is the correct one for my 2009 V70?

I've just completed the motor swap on the rear passenger door of my '09 XC70.

I had the situation where the rear door unlocking was imtermittent. If it didn't work you had to open from the inside. Mine is keyless, so the handle removal was a little awkward but nothing that can't be tackled by anyone competent.

I used the Volvo Sweden YouTube guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIZmJFqoDKk&t=266s

This video is for the front door but most of it applies to the rear door anyway.

Motors purchased off eBay for £12.

Took about 3-4hrs to complete, but if I do the other side I think 2hrs would be enough 2nd time around.
