Smile Southern Rally and BKV: Fort Nelson 19th May

My first event as a VOC "Fresher" and what a great introduction to the Club!

I piloted "Ivor" (my time-warp 1983 240 GLE inherited from my late uncle Ivor) down from North Wiltshire to the fantastic Fort Nelson venue chosen for the rally.

Very warm welcome from all the club members and I picked up some really useful advice regarding tyres - Ivor still sporting his original rubber!

The drizzle did nothing to dampen our spirits and was easily avoided by taking a free tour of the fascinating tunnels and ramparts of Fort Nelson.

Many thanks to all those involved in organising the event

I was sorry to have to leave early due to family commitments

Very glad to have met you phil and your car is a timewarp car for sure.Amazingly original and really does look like it has driven out of a showroom.

I was the chap with the Volvo shirt and name badge who commented on how much nicer the door cappings were on the early GLE's.
I took a few pictures as it was so nice.

Regards Brian.

Phil, I am pleased you enjoyed it, Nigel Ayling and I were pleased with the turnout and the range of cars there now working on next years venue
and date probably later in May as the National Rally in June is later next year.
