Default Heater Blower Fault

Evening,

My fathers 53 plate V70 D5 has the odd problem of the interior fan running even when the engine is off and the vehicle locked. It drains the battery if the fuse is not removed.

I'm thinking this could be the resistor pack that needs replacing.

Are the V70 fan motors similar to the XC90? I replaced a motor on my old XC and the resistor pack was part of this also (original problem was the fan didn't change speeds). I'm thinking that if these are the items that are at fault I may as well get a good second hand unit with motor & resistor and replace as one.

Any thoughts on this?

Is it a straightforward job to do? It was on the XC so hoping it will be similar.

Any help appreciated.

The motors are not the same, but they all have the same resistor. Keep in mind, the blower is set to run a few minutes after parking, for how long does it run? You may have a weak battery, I'd also measure the voltage

The fan runs constantly until battery is flat.

Taking the fuse out cures it. The battery is ok and no power drain if fuse taken out.
