classicswede and TLPower, I did wonder if that might be possible.

Just to be clear - are you saying that you changed the rear springs on a Volvo V70 (not the 850/V70 model) without the need for a spring compressor?

Yes P2 models V70 S60 and S80. You could not really use a spring compressor to fit them if you wanted to TBH.

Same idea as fitting springs to a double wishbone car like a Amazon or 140

There were two rear spring configurations. One with the shock inside and one with the shock on the side.

Mine were on a 2002 V70 and a 2005 V70. Shocks through the middle of the spring. Remove shock, remove wishbone bolt, remove spring.

Put new spring in place on the extended wishbone, trolley jack under the bolt end of the wishbone and jack up. I used a large pozidrive screwdriver to line the bolt hole up and pushed the bolt through from the opposite side.

Job jobbed.

I wouldn't recommend using used springs.
However, I have Lesjofors springs to front and with isolators the ride height is remarkably higher than stock (not sure about rears), good for extra clearance and still very stable on highway but doesn't look as solid. I would guess other makes (SACHS) have normal height?
