Hi,
Would an old ansafone message tape be a solution as it is an endless loop? I am gigging in here as I am dying to see if my 901 can be hacked! Regards. |

Hey everyone, just registered to post here.
I'm trying to add this aux input to a SC-816. Anyone have pictures of where the wires should go, or do I need to hunt for them? I found this thread (second post down), but the pictures make little sense. I'm assuming the black is ground, although it is never stated to do anything with them. Also assuming red is right and yellow is left, but then why are there two red pins? And the pins he uses completely change from the picture with them circled to the MS paint diagram. Could somebody please make sense of this? Last edited by BlueJelloRain; May 1st, 2012 at 02:40. |

confirming success with the HU-605?
Hi Dan,
Would be interested any info you can provide on the HU-605 hack. Specifically: did you solder onto main PCB or tape PCB? Don't suppose you have any pics? |

Just finished reading this whole thread - hoping
that someone would have come up with a hack for the SC-901 (I have the one with the ProLogic in the 2000 2.0 LPT coupe I just bought) and love the way it sounds - but not with the CD cassette to iPod...=*^(
So, what is the final - if there *is* a final - word on this? The 901 can't be hacked and the best way is an FM transmitter like the Griffin RoadTrip? If someone has found a unit that *really* works this way, please post your experiences (unless that is considered a thread hi-jack, of course)..=*^) I am not adverse to spend £50 -100 if it really works and the sound is on par with the original sound from the 901.. sort of sc 901 hack
Just taken a slightly different approach, Made a lead that plugs between the amp output on the rear of the head unit and the flying lead that goes to the amplifier and put a 3.5 jack on it.
I can plug this into an ipod and it drives the amplifiers directly. OK, you loose the centre speaker, and none of the audio controls on the head unit work, but you don't have to take the head apart and the lead is only a few £ of parts. Heres how, get a 6pole din plug and socket, ( maplins, CPC etc) and wire them pin-to-pin. Get a 3.5mm jack lead connect the screen to common, and the left to left front/rear (using 1K resistors) and right to right front/rear (using 1K resitors). The pinout for the connector is: Looking at the back of the head unit, and assuming that the "missing" pin is at 12 o'clock, then 2 o'clock is left front, 4 is right front, 6 is right rear, 8 is speaker common, 10 is left rear. The centre pin is the +12 V amp trigger. |

Just did my SC 805 removed the cassette and ribbon cut one end off of a 3.5 - 3.5mm stereo jack lead and soldered to the points in the picture on page 13. I used capacitors first time but one blew after 5 seconds so tried it without perfect no distortion whatsoever the lead comes out from under the ashtray ready to plug into my smartphone. Cheers whoever came up with this mod
