Air Con problem
Recently purchased a 1998 V70 knowing air con not working. Had a look today, when I turn on the AC I can hear the compressor click on and then off within a few seconds. Any ideas why this is happening.

Sounds like the clutch gap on the compressor is out. Google compressor shim fix - the short of it is you can fix it by inserting small shims (zip tie, bread tie) between the rings on the compressor to get the gap into spec. Or you can remove the clutch and adjust the shims to do the job 'properly'.

Being low on gas will also cause this. Check the clutch clearance as above, if this is OK then go for a re-gas and it'll almost certainly work OK. Just in case there's a small leak somewhere, get them to put some UV dye in it at the same time, then if it's leaking they can detect even the smallest leaks with a UV light. Small leaks won't show up on a vacuum test.
