98´Volvo s70 alarm no sound
i have an Volvo s70 1998 with volvo guard. When i lock the car the little red LED flash normally. And when i trigger the alarm, the warning lights around the car start to blink, and inside the car i can hear a ticking, but i cant hear any sound from the horn. under the hood i can see a little round horn, i have tested it on the battery and i know that it works. in the cable into the horn i have tested the ground connection and i know that one is working. but how do i test the other + connection, where is that wire going? can it be an another reason why the alarm doesn't make any sound? :L

Hello,
The alarm siren is hidden inside the cavity at the front of the O/S wing. See my other post which provides a link to a further post where a forum member swapped it. http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=183347 Cheers |

Hello,
Where is the little horn located you are referring to? To the best of my knowledge all C/S/V/XC have the alarm siren. It is harder to access to deter thieves from being able to deactivate the siren. Cheers Last edited by OvlovS70; Jun 28th, 2013 at 21:55. Reason: More info/clarity |

Hello,
I haven't seen that before. You will have a siren inside your inner wing, and it is this that isn't sounding, if the siren were so accessible any would be thief could pop the bonnet and silence it in seconds. Cheers What leads you to believe this is part of the alarm system? It is indeed the siren, I have just noticed you are in Norway! Perphaps a different set up for continental car alarm systems? Hello,
Look here:http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/for...8&p=250900 Sounds, pardon the pun, like the siren has an adjusting knob which could be a volume control? on the tip. Try adjusting this. Cheers |
