Mine are 286 front 288 rear. Rear pads and calipers are half the size of front.
I assumed he replaced the pads at the same time. Surely everyone does that, don't they ??

Might point is that people often replace discs assuming the current ones are the correct size, and it's possible a previous owner fitted the wrong size. I don't think all pads are the same dimensions either; some might be for 286mm, some for 316mm discs. If in doubt, probably best to get Volvo to find out what the car needs.

The caliper is in a different position for bigger discs, it isnt just that the pads may be a different size! Infact the pads are a similar size just a very slightly different design.
