Default Replace all coil springs

We have a 2009 V50 DRIVe that I have discovered has a broken coil spring at both the OSF and OSR corner. As a result I'm likely going to replace all 4 springs due to age and for peace of mind.

It's always bugged me that the car is lowered and that with a full load the back end is on the ground so I'm considering opting for Heavy Duty rear springs and standard fronts, probably Sachs ones from Eurocarparts. I can get the 4 springs for £230 from ECP. Is there any reason that this isn't a good idea? As far as I'm aware it should be fine as long as I get a full suspension and wheel geometry check done afterwards.

Get a quote for the genuine ones from somewhere like ELK performance, just on the off chance they're cheaper? Should level the car up and sit nicely.

Does your car have after market lowering springs or has it just sunk with age/use?

It's a very good idea to replace all four rather than just two - especially one on each axle.

But - you should replace the dampers as well, especially if you are increasing the springing rate, otherwise the car will be under-damped and might have some peculiar characteristics.

The car is on its original OEM springs but the DRIVe chassis is slightly lower than standard. When taken to the French Alps the car bottoms out on steep junctions and inclines which is pretty annoying. It also sits unbelievably low at the rear with 4 passengers and a full boot.

maybe its time for new dampers as well then to match as that doesnt sound right at all.

Fully loaded car still shouldnt be bottoming out and even with 4 people that should still be fine.

Agreed, it just sounds like they're old and tired to be honest. I don't think heavy duty is needed, it'll probably sit like a XC90

Sounds like it's all worn out if it's still on all original items.

Eibach spring kit is cheaper than ECP - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EIBACH-PR...53.m1438.l2649

Then get the Bilstein B4 or above shock/dampers as well.

Supposedly a very good setup for our cars. I plan on doing this eventually.

And also replacing the other suspension parts - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FOR-VOLVO...53.m1438.l2649

The eibach kit is the last thing I want. I'm looking to increase the ride height to standard not lower it further.

I'll think about the dampers but to be honest this needs to get it through 2yrs then the car's gone.

Well my hand was forced in the end due to a need to get the car back on the road. I wanted Bilstein B4 shocks but due to availability I ended up opting for all-round KYB shocks and Sachs springs with HD rear coils. I'm replacing all strut top mounts whilst at it as well.

Fingers crossed I get no further suspension issues for the foreseeable future!
