How to change the bulbs behind the dashboard panel?
My S40 dashboard panel is fitted with a "trip computer" that show average speed, average mpg, outside temp, engine and oil temp etc. It is on the right of the dashboard panel right next to the speedometer. Recently the light behind the trip computer has gone and I cannot see the information at night. The bulbs behind the speedometer and revmeter are still OK. All those bulbs are lighted as soon as the key is turned (not linked to the headlights).
Do you know if it is possible to renew the failed bulb? I know how to take off the dashboard panel from the car but I don't know if it's possible to replace any bulb inside it. Sounds like a sealed unit and the bulbs look like leds, right??? Any information about that? Also does anyone have a part nr for this bulb??? Thanks a lot |

Hello!
Have you got the trip computer (or 'info centre' as Volvo call it) with the digital fuel gauge? As in, you know how much fuel is left depending on the number of bars? If so, it's just a standard 2.1w (I think) capless sidelight bulb. There are no LED's in the dash (not on the phase 1's anyway as far as I know), all incandescent bulbs. If you have the later type with the analogue temp and fuel guages, with the oblong digital display underneath, then I am unsure. Might well be the same though. Martin
