Default Bowers & Wilkins - bass

Have to say this system sounds great and is VERY loud without sounding like the speakers are on the edge of exploding.

I'm currently on the "Studio" sound experience with both Bass and Subwoofer maxed out on the Tone settings. I've also got the Equaliser on Dynamic.

One thing I notice is the lack of bass?
I've tried turning the Subwoofer all the way down and back again and only noticed small variance in the bass.
Is this down to the music file? It's currently MP3 from a USB stick.

I have the Burmeister on my last Merc and although not as loud the bass is more prominent.

Increase the first few sliders on the equaliser to top end of scale.

Could be the mp3 - usually quite compressed so, if you can, try a lossless file and see what difference that makes. Or just fm radio?

Tried that but the music just sounds too odd. Bass is not as punchy if that makes sense...

Strangely enough bass is more pronounced when listening to DAB.
I didn't realise media player can play FLAC files. I have one album that I will try out.

Anyone know where is the subwoofer housed? I'm guessing this is a proper subwoofer?

I think it is in one of rear wheel arches.

On the EQ you really only want to adjust the 1st column (30hz or 60hz, which ever it has)

30bhz is mega low frequency for subs.

Tried Spotify today and the bass is just out of this world on the B&W system.
In fact any song on Spotify sounds so amazing, I actually spent 15 minutes in the car even after getting home just listening to songs.

Most car Hi-Fi has far far too much bass available , maybe that's what you were expecting ? Its un-natural . The more expensive Hi-Fi gets the less this boom boom boom is prominent . same with volume , You can sit in the car and it may seem very loud , but get out and shut the door and you hardly hear it , unlike the boom boys in their Mitsubishi Lancers :-)

It's not the ear deafening thump on some systems with massive subwoofers and amps that will power a whole village I'm after.

I just like the rich, clear sound that the B&W system provides. No matter how low you turn the volume up the system can handle it, without having the speakers sound like they will burst anytime.
