Volvo 240 Torslanda 1993 (Spares or Repairs)
Hi All
My 1993 Volvo Torslanda wagon failed its MOT yesterday - it needs a few bits of the underside welding. I don't have access, or any experience to do any welding myself so regretfully I'm going to try to move it on. The rest of it is solid - last year it sailed through with no advisories and has a lot of money spent on it in the last few years - new front springs, rear springs, bushes, exhaust, rear shocks, brake calliper, oil changed every year, timing belt done 30ish thousand miles ago. The reg is K338GHP - have a look at the MOT.gov site to see for yourself, its been a great family car. Last summer we had a great holiday touring Germany, and it never missed a beat. I think if you were going to split this for parts you would be able to get a tidy sum for this, or perhaps you're a dab hand with a welder and can fix it yourself? Either way, current MOT expires June 9th so it is driveable until then. I'd like £650 for it (non-negotiable). Its in South Birmingham. You can email me on neil.nelsonATgmailDOTcom if you'd like to come and look at it. |

Hi Neil, could you please tell me if the Volvo has the 2.3 engine.
Also its difficult to tell but is there much rust on the rear wheel arches. Could you please tell me where in South Birmingham you are so i can calculate the mileage. Regards, John |

Hi John
There's a little surface bubbling, not much. I'm in B30 - stirchley. It's the 2.0. Last edited by neilnelson; May 24th, 2018 at 22:09. |

Just to clarify a legal point on this
The original poster states the car failed its mot yesterday, posted on the forum on the 20th of may so it failed on the 19th of may.
Then later on in the post says the current mot expires on the 9th of june so still ok to drive until then. Regardless of what anyone says its not legal, once your car has failed its failed and the failure makes any time left on the old mot null and void, a fail is a fail no exceptions. Just saying for future reference. |
