Foam insert before mass flow sensor
Hi,
I have recently upgraded the air box on my Volvo C30 2.0 to the K&N 57s air box and filter (which has made a real difference btw) and I noticed there was a small foam insert at the bottom of the air box before the mass flow sensor. Is this foam insert required? Wouldn’t it affect the reading on the mass flow sensor? Any comments welcome........... |

I would think it's a baffle to smooth the airflow over the sensor and thus give more consistent readings. Bit like a damper on a spring, smooths the operation of the spring and makes the ride more comfortable, without it the spring would do its job but the ride would be bouncer.
