Default Compass in rearview mirror of MY19 XC60

The manual refers to a compass that is integrated in the rearview mirror that should get activated automatically everytime the car is started. The rearview mirror in my XC60 isn’t showing the compass everytime the car is started. Can someone tell me why isn’t mine showing or how to activate it? Thanks.

The compass is not fitted as standard so unless you specified it somehow it won't be there.

Thanks for answering but is it part of some kind of pack that needed to be ordered? I don’t recognise the compass in rearview mirror being part of a pack.

I don't know about the XC60 but on the XC90 it was included with the Homelink (Automated Garage/Gate Opening) option when I ordered my car.

I'm not sure if it's even available now in the UK.

I must admit that I had not even noticed that there was not a compass in my V90CC when I test drove it, but it is a bit of a miss - I had got used to having one after 12 years of owning cars with one.
Before I bought my car, I took out a new XC60 for a drive and it definitely had one and I think I just assumed they would all be fitted with a compass.

You do have a compass at the bottom of the driver display but only in off road mode, and of course in your satnav.
I had the compass in my rear view mirror on a 2011 XC90, but no satnav, my 2013 XC90 had satnav but no compass in mirror, I liked the green compass but never ever used it not once, it just looked nice. The satnav compass makes more sense.

The compass is available (at least listed) as an accessory for the V90 (along with Homelink) but not, unfortunately for the OP, for the xc60.

Good price here, although you still need to add software at a dealer:

Back when Homelink + Compass could be specified as an option at car order time, it cost £220 inc VAT and fitting (obviously).

The "compass" in the mirror of my 2011 XC90 Exec just indicated N,NE,E, etc.
It wasn't exactly useful except to know in which general direction the car was pointing.
I wouldn't miss it if it wasn't there.

Agree, I wouldn’t miss it either.
